Released on June 19, 2012, Whitechapel is the self-titled fourth studio album by the American deathcore band Whitechapel. Marking a shift in their sound, this album features a more refined, groove-oriented approach while maintaining the band's signature intensity. It was released through Metal Blade Records and produced by Mark Lewis.
Musically, Whitechapel is a crushing blend of downtuned, chugging riffs, machine-gun drumming, and Phil Bozeman’s guttural growls, with a sharper focus on groove and atmosphere compared to their earlier work. Lyrically, the album explores themes of societal decay, nihilism, and inner turmoil, making it one of the band's darkest records to date.
