Originally released in 1994 as the lead single from Suede’s second album Dog Man Star, We Are The Pigs signalled a darker, more apocalyptic turn in the band’s sound. With its jagged guitars, ominous brass, and Brett Anderson’s foreboding lyrics, the song painted a vision of urban unrest and societal collapse — a sharp contrast to the glam-tinged optimism of their debut.
The B-side, The Killing Of A Flash Boy, quickly became one of Suede’s most celebrated non-album tracks. With its snarling groove and swaggering menace, it stands as a quintessential example of the band’s ability to craft B-sides that rivalled their singles.
