It features a heavier, more metal-influenced sound driven by new guitarist John Sykes, who brought a modern edge to the group’s established style. The track “Cold Sweat” was released as a single and became a UK Top 30 hit. The album also includes highlights like the powerful title track “Thunder and Lightning” and the atmospheric “The Sun Goes Down.” Thunder and Lightning marked a strong send-off for the band’s studio career.
