Released in 1994 between Suede’s debut album and its follow-up, Dog Man Star, Stay Together stands as one of the band’s most ambitious and cinematic singles. Clocking in at over eight minutes in its full version (though presented here in an edited form), the track layers sweeping strings, jagged guitars, and Brett Anderson’s impassioned vocals to create an epic, almost dystopian atmosphere. Its dark grandeur marked a turning point in Suede’s sound, foreshadowing the more expansive direction of their next record.

The B-side, The Living Dead, is a fan favourite — a stripped-back, heartbreaking ballad that deals with addiction and disillusionment. Intimate and emotionally devastating, it remains one of Suede’s most cherished non-album tracks.
