Pick-Up Full of Pink Carnations is the sixth studio album by British indie rock band The Vaccines, released on January 12, 2024, through Super Easy and Thirty Tigers.
The album was recorded just before founding guitarist Freddie Cowan announced his departure from the group in early 2023.
Mixed by renowned producer Dave Fridmann, the album delves into themes of loss and the death of the American dream, inspired by frontman Justin Hayward-Young's experiences living in Los Angeles.
The title, "Pick-Up Full of Pink Carnations," references a misremembered lyric from Don McLean's "American Pie," symbolizing disillusionment and the end of innocence.
Critics have noted that the album represents one of The Vaccines' most concept-heavy works, with Hayward-Young addressing the death of the American dream through his experiences in L.A.
