Released in 1979, Mingus is a deeply collaborative project between Joni Mitchell and legendary jazz bassist and composer Charles Mingus. The album was Mingus's final musical endeavor before his death and features Joni’s lyrical interpretations of his compositions, along with spoken-word segments. Blending avant-garde jazz with Mitchell’s singular vocal style, it remains one of her most ambitious and genre-defying works.
