Jewels in the Treasure Box: The 1953 Chicago Blue Note Jazz Club Recordings is a previously unissued collection featuring nearly three hours of live performances by the legendary jazz pianist Art Tatum. Recorded in March 1953 at Chicago's Blue Note jazz club, these sessions showcase Tatum at the height of his powers, accompanied by guitarist Everett Barksdale and bassist Slam Stewart.

The album is available as a deluxe, limited-edition 180-gram 3-LP gatefold. Both editions include rare photos and memorabilia from the archives of Herman Leonard, Bob Parent, and the Holzfeind family, owners of the Blue Note jazz club. The liner notes are penned by Columbia University professor and author Brent Hayes Edwards, with additional insights from notable musicians such as Ahmad Jamal, Sonny Rollins, Monty Alexander, and others.

These recordings were meticulously transferred from the original tape reels and mastered by engineer Matthew Lutthans, known for his work on Resonance Records' Grammy-nominated 2019 Nat King Cole release "Hittin’ the Ramp." This collection offers an intimate glimpse into Tatum's virtuosic artistry in a small club setting, making it a valuable addition for jazz enthusiasts and collectors.
