Invito al Ĉielo is the third installment in Sonic Youth’s experimental SYR series, released on March 2, 1998, through their own Sonic Youth Recordings (SYR) label. This release marks the band's first collaboration with avant-garde musician and producer Jim O'Rourke, a partnership that would continue in subsequent projects and lead to O'Rourke becoming an official member of Sonic Youth by 2002's Murray Street.
The album, titled in Esperanto as "Invitation to Heaven," adheres to the SYR series' tradition of featuring liner notes in foreign languages, with this edition utilizing Esperanto. Comprising three tracks, the album spans over 56 minutes and delves into free improvisation and experimental rock, characterized by dense textures and atmospheric soundscapes.
