Hot Fuss is the debut studio album by American rock band The Killers, released on June 7, 2004, in the United Kingdom and on June 15, 2004, in the United States. The album blends post-punk revival and new wave influences, featuring energetic guitar riffs and synthesizer overlays that evoke '80s new wave sounds. It includes four singles: "Mr. Brightside," "Somebody Told Me," "All These Things That I've Done," and "Smile Like You Mean It." "Hot Fuss" achieved significant commercial success, reaching number seven on the Billboard 200 and number one on the UK Albums Chart. As of 2012, it has sold over seven million copies worldwide.
The album cover features a photograph of buildings in the southern suburbs of Beijing, China, taken by photographer Matthias Clamer. The characters atop each building translate to "construction material development."
