Athens, France is the debut single from British experimental rock band, Black Country, New Road, released via the cult indie label Speedy Wunderground. Sprawling, angular, and emotionally raw, the track introduced the band's signature blend of spoken-word lyricism, complex arrangements, and dynamic shifts in tone and intensity.

With cryptic, self-referential lyrics and orchestral flourishes set against an unpredictable rhythm section, Athens, France captures the youthful anxiety and artistic ambition that would define the band’s early sound. It was recorded live to tape with producer Dan Carey, embodying the spontaneity and tension that makes BCNR so compelling.
